Food for Thought

Welcome to our new site!

4/1/2020

Welcome to Frosty Morning Farm's new and exciting website! We've gone on an amazing journey creating it, going through mountains of digital images of the farm. The ones that we chose for this website give a glimpse into our farm and our lives. We hope it builds more connectivity with our loyal customers and creates new customers as well. Putting everything in one place has been a long process, but definitely overdue and well worth it. Now there are lists of our plants and products. It's amazing how much there is when it's all in one place. There will be more to come, like pictures and lists of Karl's houseplants, the vegetable as they start to come in, and the cut flowers. This is a true work in progress, just like farming!

There's much uncertainty in the world these days. As farmers, we continue to do what we do. We can't stop anymore than we can stop the seasons. The fruit trees will still fruit. We have a greenhouse and nursery full, and are starting to plant outside. Our herb and tomato seedlings are coming along, in addition to many new perennial seedlings and cut flower seedlings. The gladiola bulbs are begging to be planted. We started our growing season back in January when we ordered our seeds. We will have all this and more, including a multitude of dried herbs, our own garden seeds, soap, medicinal extracts, jam and much more.

Organic farming teaches us to be resilient and flexible. Diversity is an essential part. These times require some thinking outside the box. The Cazenovia Farmers Market will continue, but with the necessary changes to keep our community safe from COVID 19. We are hoping to utilize a pre-order approach through this website. We will now be able to process credit card payments in advance, so all you have to do is show up on a market day and pick up your order. (We will also be able to process credit card payments at the market.) We will have a pick-up location in Truxton, too, on Tuesdays.

When we all come through this, we will be a stronger and more resilient community. As we continue to support our local farmers and businesses, we build a stronger, local economy. Happy Spring!!
